Tooth Extraction

An unfortunate reality in life is that one day most of us need teeth pulled. Whether your wisdom teeth are impacted or your coffee and soda habit have caught up with you, getting your teeth pulled is almost a certainty in your life. Whatever the reason for you needing your tooth pulled, we will give you options on anesthesia and what kind of after care you would like, including dental implants and bone grafting.

Wisdom Teeth

The Wisdom Teeth, also referred to as the third molars, do not do us much good today. Like other parts of our bodies, like the appendix, what was once needed for survival we have evolved out of needing. Our mouths are smaller than our ancestors which creates an issue when our wisdom teeth try to grow in. They will often grow in at an angle pushing the other teeth forward. This can misalign your teeth or even cause damage to them as they push forward. As a result, approximately 85% of all adults have had their wisdom teeth pulled.

Broken Teeth

There are many ways that teeth can be broken. You may be participating in your favorite sport, have an accident at work, be involved in a motor vehicle collision, or perhaps even succumb to clumsiness. In some cases, the broken tooth can be saved, depending on the amount of damage done. Often it must be pulled to ensure it does not begin to decay. If you do break a tooth, contact a dental professional immediately to find out what options you may have.

Tooth Decay

It is nearly impossible to count the factors that can lead to oral decay, but poor oral care, genetics, and acidic and sugary drinks are some of the major contributors. No matter what the reason is, we can help you with teeth. As the tooth decays, nerves in the pulp of the tooth become exposed, which is one of the main causes toothaches. It also opens up your mouth for additional issues, such as abscesses and infections.

Bone Grafting

During the extraction, bone grafting can be done. This prepares you for the eventual dental implant procedure that will follow.  To learn more, call Oakwood Oral & Maxillofacial today.
